Slow Money NYC seeks social entrepreneurs who seek to change the food system and look to test their ideas before an audience of 100+ guests and up to 5 expert judges at the Food Book Fair. Think: Shark Tank for Sustainable Foodies. Extra points for proposals that include plans to produce written matter: books, blogs and foodieodicals.
Winners will receive a modest cash honorarium (based on tickets sold at the door!) as well as valuable mentorship opportunities from a variety of knowledgeable individuals and impact organizations.
Expert judges will be drawn from the fields of food and business. Experts invited to judge include: Alison Hooper, Vermont Butter and Creamery; Danny Meyer, Union Square Hospitality Group and several others.
Even if your business is not selected to pitch, we urge you to attend the Resource Fair beforehand from 1:00-4:00 PM which will feature businesses, agencies and organizations that provide products and services for budding entrepreneurs to help launch their businesses.

Launched in 2012, The Food Book Fair was the first ever event combining food publications and dynamic events celebrating food writing, reading, and activism. Building on its critical success, 2013 Food Book Fair will be held on May 3-5, 2012 (primarily at the Wythe Hotel), promising a variety of different programs that explore unique and fascinating facets of the food system and the writing that brings them to life.
About Slow Money NYC
Slow Money NYC is a local chapter of Slow Money, Inc., a growing national alliance catalyzing impact investing in sustainable, small food and farm business through education, networking and incubating new models for finance. Launched in 2010, Slow Money NYC has held dozens of educational and networking events, including two Entrepreneur Showcases, featuring business pitches by 16 dynamic local food pioneers.
