WNYC seeks Green Entrepreneurs
December 13, 2011

Here’s some interesting exposure for your budding business, as well as practice pitching for the media (one important audience in raising money and awareness of your approach).

Although entrepreneurs are some of the most innovative people in our world today, many of them need help getting the word out. NPR and Green Spaces‘ introduce a new event series, “Meet the Press! Where Social Innovators Get Noticed.”

Through pitch nights, startups will gain exposure to 1) the host journalist’s publication and 2) a solid critique of their pitch. Five people will be selected to present their pitch. Ideally, the winning pitch will get featured, but that is up to the reporter!

The first event of the series will take place on Thursday, Dec. 15 at Green Spaces NY, 7-9 PM. Click here to submit your pitch and/or get a ticket. We will have a fun evening of cocktails and sharing stories!

Alex Goldmark will host the first event. Alex is a contributing editor for business at GOOD and a radio reporter for NPR station WNYC. He covers a motley mix of topics, depending on what’s fascinating at the time from social enterprise, philanthropy, and the ethics of money, to airplanes, biofuels and bikeshare, as well as a dash of art, motels, sports, politics, mustaches and deli meats.

  1. I’m wondering if the results of this were ever aired and if so, are the audio files available on line? Also, will this event be happening again? As a “budding business” that did not hear about this event before, I would be very interested in submitting a pitch for the next one! Thanks.

    1. Hi Megan – Thank you for writing in. Yes, the Green Spaces event was fantastic. We heard great pitches and learned a lot about how to approach the media. We highly recommend the next one. It will be on Thursday, February 23rd from 7-9 pm at Green Spaces in Manhattan. Please read more at Hope to see you there!
